TypeMe measures your words per minute, accuracy, and reaction speed with nothing on screen but the words in front of you. No account, no ads in the test, and your results never leave your browser.
Words or paragraphs
Drill quick random-word prompts or flow through natural sentences. Pick any length from 1 to 100 words.
Reaction time test
Set prompts to one word to measure how fast you react: milliseconds from each new word to your first key, charted pass by pass.
Honest numbers
Standard WPM (five characters per word), raw speed, accuracy, and a per-second chart after every test.
Yours to shape
Twenty themes, three monospace typefaces, caret styles, and a control bar you can place anywhere.
- Is TypeMe free?
- Yes. TypeMe is completely free, has no ads in the test, and needs no account or sign-up.
- How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
- TypeMe uses the standard definition: every five typed characters, including spaces, count as one word. Your words per minute is that total divided by the minutes elapsed. Accuracy is the share of keystrokes that matched the prompt.
- What is a good typing speed?
- Around 40 WPM is typical for everyday typists, 60–80 WPM is fast, and 100+ WPM is exceptional. Accuracy matters as much as speed: aim to stay above 95% while your speed climbs.
- How can I type faster?
- Practice in short, focused sessions, keep accuracy above 95%, and repeat the same setup a few times before making it harder. Our guide, The Quiet Practice, walks through a simple routine.
- Can I test my reaction speed with TypeMe?
- Yes. Set the prompt length to one word and TypeMe becomes a keyboard reaction time test: it measures the milliseconds between each new word appearing and your first keystroke, charts every pass, and compares your average with your previous session.
- What is a good reaction time?
- Simple click-when-it-changes tests average around 250 milliseconds. Reading a word and pressing its first key takes longer because you have to recognize the word first, so the most useful benchmark is your own average: if it drops session over session, your reflexes and word recognition are getting faster.
- Does TypeMe save my results?
- Your preferences and personal bests are stored only in your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and you can clear your records at any time in Settings.
- Can I practice punctuation, numbers, or full paragraphs?
- Yes. Switch between random words and natural paragraphs, choose 15, 30, 60 or 120 second tests, and turn on punctuation and numbers in Settings.
